Medical staff assistants are important in the medical profession. The medical staff assistant’s job requires not only receptionist and secretarial skills but also the basic medical know-how to be able to assist other medical parishioners such as doctors and nurses. Their tasks include meeting and greeting patients, preparing insurance forms, answering and returning phone calls, ensuring that the area is always neat and stacked with magazines or toys, scheduling appointments, and many others.
As with all other positions, medical staff assistant salary is based on previous experience in a position with similar clerical and secretarial duties.
Previous experience in the medical field is preferred but is usually not required. Hence, a more experienced medical staff assistant will predictably receive a higher medical staff assistant salary than someone new in the field, since less training will be required for them to become effective in their positions.
In any case, however, when a job work involves healthcare service, the salary is usually commensurate. Even so, the driving force behind working as a medical staff should not be the high medical staff assistant salary. It should be the genuine desire to care for people in pain.
